About me

Thinh-Lay Wonesky

Copywriter and consultant for accessible content

My name is Thinh-Lay Wonesky, but many people know me simply as Allerlay. I dream of a world without barriers. No matter if they are language barriers, technical, or social barriers. I dream of an inclusive world where all people have the same opportunities, regardless of origin, race, gender, age, or disabilities. Where all people have equal access to education, work, information, and participation.

Despite all the technological advances, we are still far from an inclusive society. Through my work, I want to make my personal contribution to making the world a little more inclusive, diverse and friendly.

Professional experience

On my way to self-employment, I met many people who inspired me. At the same time, I have also been able to share my enthusiasm for language with many people and to raise their awareness of the issue of web accessibility. Because these two constants have accompanied me over the past years: My love for languages and my passion for accessibility.

1998 – 2008

I took my first steps in journalism at the age of 14, when I wrote my first newspaper article during a taster week. This was followed by regular work as a freelance journalist for various local newspapers in the Rhine Valley of St. Gallen and Lake Constance.

2008 – 2011

In the spring of 2008, I applied for the position of editorial manager for the Zurich editorial office of Tink.ch. I didn’t get the job, but instead I received an offer to set up an editorial office in St.Gallen. And so, in the summer of 2008, I started as editorial director St.Gallen at the youth online magazine Tink.ch. I was faced with the challenge of inspiring young aspiring writers for Tink.ch.

One year later, I took over the job as editor-in-chief and thus the overall editorial responsibility for the magazine. My tasks included the personnel supervision of the editorial managers, the exchange with cooperation partners as well as the constant further development of the magazine.

2011 – 2012

After three years at Tink.ch, it was time for me to move on. At the foundation “Zugang für alle” in Zurich, I expanded my knowledge in the area of web accessibility. As Head of Services, I was responsible for customer acquisition, conducting accessibility tests, advising companies and organizations, and giving workshops and talks on the topic of accessibility.

2012 – 2014

After just under a year and a half, I left the foundation to take up a position as a multimedia employee in the canton of St.Gallen’s state chancellery. Among other things, I was responsible for the introduction of social media as a communication channel.

2014 – 2018

While still working at “Access for All” and at the State Chancellery, I founded BossharTong GmbH in 2011 together with my former partner. In 2014, I decided to join the company entirely. This is because I cherish the desire for self-fulfillment and want to make a difference with my work as well as change the world. In my own company, I was able to devote more time to web accessibility.

Today

I have been a solopreneur since July 2018. I used the years as an entrepreneur at BossharTong to become clearer about my strengths and expectations. Expectations of myself, but also of my clients and partners. Because a business relationship is also a relationship – and it has to be fulfilling for both sides.

In addition, I followed the call of love and live in the USA with my husband Shawn since July 2019. From here I continue to serve my clients from Switzerland and Europe. Thanks to today’s communication possibilities, we overcome time differences and over 6000 kilometers of distance. Because all I need for my work is my MacBook and an internet connection.
